Power and Free

When your products are large or processes require greater separation than easily accommodated by more traditional indexing solutions, a conveyor based system may be the solution. While these systems are generally slower and require more floor space, there are a number of distinct advantages:

  • Accommodates larger & heavier products
  • Allows parallel process flow where duplicate stations are required to achieve overall production rate
  • Allows introduction of buffering zones to improve isolation between work cells, often improving overall production efficiency
  • Easily accommodates introduction of manual labor - making the approach well suited to a "lean" assembly approach
  • Facilitates modular system evolution and construction
  • Accommodates expansion more readily
  • Relatively easy to reconfigure, thereby accommodating changing product and process designs more easily

Often, a hybrid approach combining a synchronous Indexing System with an asynchronous conveyor based solution is the answer. In any case, Jewett Automation is extremely well suited to help you evaluate your particular needs and suggest the best approach to fit your manufacturing challenge.
