High Speed Vacuum Turret Assembly
When production requirements exceed the capabilities of other automation platforms, Jewett Automation has completed hundreds of custom continuous motion projects for production rates of 175 to 6,000 parts per minute. Continuous Motion machinery can take the form of either a linear system, rotary system or a combination of both. Several key areas must be evaluated when considering a Continuous Motion system. Parts feeding, operations that need to be performed and how much time these operations take, and the orientation/configuration of the completed parts exiting the machine. Our teams of Continuous Motion Experts have created assembly and forming machinery using the following techniques:
- Feeding, orienting and pitch change of the parts from bulk or rolls of product can be accomplished by centrifugal bowl feeders, inline tracks, variable pitch lead screws, star wheels, crush cut rotary dies, vacuum pitch change conveyors, mass flow or tray fed hoppers and vacuum drums.
- The various assembly and or forming operations that we have performed have been mostly accomplished via multiple cam-actuated motions. Examples of a few operations that we have performed are cold forming, heat sealing/forming, rotary knife cutting, adhesive application and curing, matched speed flying knife cuts, bottle capping/torque operations, knot tying, bar code reading/sorting, laminating, deburring/flash removal, embossing and laser material removal.
- The orientation and configuration of the finished assemblies can take the form of mass flow conveying, tray filling, being stacked in a continuous fashion or stacks of a certain number, multiple parts in heat sealed bags or placed in pucks or trays for further operations.
Jewett Automation has decades of experience designing and building Continuous Motion systems for the medical, automotive, tobacco, feminine hygiene, converting, metal working, packaging, dairy and consumer products industries.
